“The Wagon”. Alcoholic: The Dark Side.

Your Town
Through Harold’s Lens:

Heaven to hell

Took my soul to hell
Alone
In the dark.

Hell to heaven

8,394 1/2 days
Rode the wagon
with soft friends.

Heaven back to hell

Only 1 beer
1 led to 2
2 led to 4
4 led to 8.

11:00 am

Team meeting
Straight talk
Messrs Grey Goose,
Crystal Head, Finlandia,
Stolichnaya, Absolut,
Smirnoff, Belvedere,
Skyy and Pinnacle.

No body odor
Made me feel good.

2
3

Discussion with wife.
4
Argument with wife.
5
Wife disgusted.
6
Daughter terrified.
7
Grandchildren scared.
8
Friends shuffled away.
9
One for the road.
10
Just a nightcap.
11
Messrs rolled across floor
Naked and empty.

Soul back in hell
Alone
In the dark.

Wagon left without me

Ring. Ring. Ring.
“Hello
Alcoholics Anonymous.
Can I help you?”

“My name is Mark.
I’m an alcoholic.”

  1. A wonderful series of photos and poetry, mix with much hope but as life is prone to do, throws in difficult moments. Very thought provoking, and while there is empathy there is also such sadness and disappointment…

  2. Love the lighting in the black and white Harold. The poem makes me think of that line from Kenny Chesney’s song You and Tequila — “one is one too many, one more is never enough”…
